Name:

Village of Lucas, Ohio - City Website

Industry:

Municipal

About:

Official website for the Village of Lucas, Ohio. Residents can pay their bills online and use it as a resource for local happenings and departments.

Objective:

Transforming a municipal website into a centralized digital service hub.

the challenge

Challenge:

The village of Lucas in Ohio required a modern, user-friendly website that could better serve residents by making essential municipal services and community information easily accessible. The existing digital experience lacked intuitive navigation, clear information architecture, and centralized access to important resources, making it difficult for users to complete common tasks such as paying utility bills, accessing public information, and staying informed about local events.

Beyond improving usability, the website needed to evolve from a basic informational resource into a functional digital platform that streamlined everyday interactions, reduced friction, and strengthened communication between the town and its residents. The challenge was to create an accessible, community-focused experience that prioritized the needs of residents while encouraging greater engagement with local services and events.

my approach

Strategy:

I approached the project by designing the website around the needs and priorities of the town's residents, ensuring the most frequently accessed services and information were easy to find and navigate. I restructured the site's information architecture to simplify the user journey, improve accessibility, and create a more intuitive browsing experience across all devices.

Key municipal services, including online bill payment, public resources, and community announcements, were prominently integrated into the navigation to reduce friction and encourage self-service. To strengthen community engagement, I also developed a centralized events and news section that provided residents with timely access to local happenings and town updates.

The result was a modern, user-focused digital platform that improved usability, enhanced communication, and better supported the town's commitment to serving its community.
